Mergers and Acquisitions!

The olfactory nerve gets a tingling sensation at the very sound of the words Mergers and Acquisitions! The network of nerves from there go on a rise, as if a giant wave has just sweeped the waters of the ocean. And its all over the papers the next day... well, in fact, the same day (it gets leaked to the media immediately!).

With all the fancy vocabulary, the news is spashed all over the world. But, the firms involved feel the pressure well before the scheduled announcement. Layoffs, shifts, screw-ups and what not! There will be a plethora of losses and gains both on the professional and personal front. People tend to lose their cool more often. Jobs, financial stability, market volatility, inflation... everything is pushed into the light.

For those, who are fortunate enough to stay stuck to their designations, things are a little better. But, consider the financial transactions, the paper currency, the assets and everything that changes hands. Someone needs to keep a record of all of it. Much worse would be the case, if the transaction would involve different currencies. With the impact of what not, the exhcange rates have become more volatile with the passing hour.

You might also hear in the inner circles; woes of people who prepare the summary of the financial statement debating with their conscience on the rates to be used. What has collided with the world so badly, that the impact is felt on the individual's mantle? People are helpless... or do they act helpless.? Well... I may not be well equipped with justifications...I am just the innocent bystander to all this madness.

Should we wait for someone?

A 60 hour terror trauma by terrorists trying to handicap the financial capital of country known for its commercial and cultural wealth... and one question remains in the open... should we wait for someone to take the responsibility of making the country secure for anyone to live in?

"This is not the time for a blame game". On retrospection, we could have avoided the unforgettable 60 hours by keeping alert. If the Taj heritage had enough security checks on people and their luggage, the detection and hence the prevention of loss of precious lives would have been possible. It is not just the Taj Heritage or the Oberoi Trident or the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus. The havoc could have been wrecked at any place. It is time we think about things in a different perspective. We, the people of India, who have solemnly resolved to constitute our country sovereign socialist secular democratic republic are now failing to be earnest in our efforts to make India the way it is on paper. We have failed in our duty towards the country and the Constitution.

The leaders of the people are corrupt, lazy, escapists, and enemies of the very people who have given them the responsibilty of establishing peace and thus bring forth prosperity. There is a quote in Telugu which translates to " A king's subjects follow the example that he sets." This is very much happening in our country. There is no accountability for the amount of effort that goes into establishing peace. There is no check on the amount of arms and ammunition that is brought in to the country. If I am a terrorist, I can walk into any public place loaded with a fully loaded rifle and a bag of detonators undeterred, because the security measures employed are so weak. The employees of the agencies which are given the contract to avoid havoc are indifferent to their duty. People themselves are not alert, nor do they seem interested in reporting any suspicion because they wait in vain for someone to take care of things.

India needs a ruler who is not a puppet in someone's hands, who uses his brain not only in not matters of policy but also in evading obligations to his masters. The head of the country should be an able person, unbiased on all grounds of religion, race, caste, sex, place of birth. Every citizen has a fundamental right to be treated equally and be provided with oppurtunities based on his capabilities. I personally don't see no point in the system of reservations. This has only led to illegal means of obtaining seats in all places from schools to the Parliament. Politicians should be afraid of the people and not vice-versa. The judicial system has been designed to provide people with protection against encroachment of all types and not to bend to the whims and fancies of politics. Politicians are not masters of the people. They are salaried employees who work for the general public. It would be good if people realize their duty to elect representatives who realize this. Otherwise, attacks of this sort on the country would be unavoidable. After all, if we people are strong and united within, this will reflect on us.

We have to show ourselves the light we wish would enlighten our lives!

We will not forget the sacrifices of the people who lay their lives to serving the country; rather we should collectively work towards making the lives of those alive easy. We need to take the responsibility of electing our leaders because we are placing our fate and lives in their hands. We shall promise ourselves that we would all vote during the forthcoming elections and thus ensure a better ruled country which is secure and at peace.
